Introduction
Center for One Health Research and Promotion (COHRP) was established in 2019 in Lalitpur, Nepal with the aim of promoting works for the control of zoonotic diseases affecting humans, animals and the environment through integrative, multidisciplinary research and innovation. We aim to conduct a collaborative and multi-disciplinary approach to understand the ecology of emerging zoonotic disease to undertake a risk assessment and to develop plans for response and control. We believe that by collaborating and building relationships, we can have the benefit of diverse perspectives and wider networks to tackle the issues of one health together.
Aims
- To conduct research and study the present emerging and re-emerging zoonotic diseases in Nepal.
- To take initiative to assist in the study and identification of the spread of livestock and human diseases across the country.
- To develop this organization as a study and research working group for the protection of public health.
OBJECTIVES:
- To conduct interdisciplinary programs in education, training, research and established policy.
- Design and execution of research and disease intervention strategies.
- Create unique, streamlined and simple systems for bringing research results to those who need them.
- To provide outreach and education on One Health and One Health Initiatives.
- To organize and disseminate information on One Health and One Health Activities in Nepal.
- Facilitate communication and cooperation among scientists and government agencies in Nepal through research, meetings and information exchange.
- To improve animal health information, its collection and dissemination.
- Develop training material and capacity building tools for ‘One Health’.
